A loan helped to buy potatoes and chuño at wholesale.

Villa Alemania Group's story

The communal bank "Villa Alemania" will begin its third cycle with Pro Mujer as a part of the Cascada regional office. It is made up of eight members and is lead by a board where Sonia is the President. The businesses that are carried out by the members of the group are varied, among them are: blanket sales, potato and chuño sales, clothing sales, leggings sales, food sales, strawberry sales, and bread sales.

The loan that they will take out will benefit small businesses where Sonia is a member. She mentions that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for more than one year. She joined at the invitation of a friend who is a member of the institution. She currently has a business selling potatoes and chuño. She mentions that she learned this business three years ago, and it was her mother who taught her. Currently it is her children that help her with the business.

The loan that she will take out now will increase her capital to buy potatoes and chuño at wholesale. She will obtain them from the community of Patacamaya and then she will sell them in her sales space. This form of work allows her to generate resources to support her family financially since she is divorced and has three children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the health clinic that the institution offers.
