A loan helped to buy a dairy cow.

Zakayo's story

Hello lenders, meet Zakayo, a small-holder mixed-farmer based in the Molo area of Kenya. Zakayo relies on livestock and crop farming to produce food and generate income. His future plans are dependent on the success of his dairy farm and that is why he joined a solidarity group called Bidii (Swahili for effort) Development Group’to secure financial services. Zakayo is seeking a loan to buy a dairy cow. The newly acquired cow will increase the number of livestock on his farm and the quantity of milk that he supplies. However, the impact of your loan goes beyond direct food production to include multipurpose uses, such as skins, fiber, fertilizer and fuel, as well as capital accumulation. Increased income generated from this loan investment will help Zakayo pay for his family’s basic needs as well as buy agricultural supplies, such as seed, fertilizer, pesticide, animal feed and implements to ensure sustainability of his business.
