Alpana's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to cover the educational the costs of her son’s education.

Alpana's story

Alpana is a 38-year-old rural woman from a small village called Kalirhat in Dhupguri. She lives there with her husband and three children (two daughters and a son). All three of them are studying in different grades. Her husband is a farmer by profession and his monthly income is very limited and has to cover the education costs of his children after managing the household needs.

Alpana’s eldest son Debashish, a 14-year-old boy, studies at Kalirhat D.C High School in grade nine. He is a serious and meritorious boy who has been promoted to grade nine with good marks. Debashish’s ambition is to be an honest and responsible police officer in the future. Now he wants some good private tutoring to groom him so that he will score better in his coming board examination. His parents try their level best to make their children well-educated. Alpana decided to provide good tutors to her eldest son and it will be possible only if she can get financial assistance. That is why she applied for a loan from BJS (Kiva’s partner) to purchase Debashish’s educational equipment, pay his school fees and engage private tuition for him (Debashish). She hopes that this loan will provide good support to continue her son’s education further and that Debashish will be one step closer to his dream.

Alpana and Debashish (as in the picture) thank their generous lenders.
