A loan helped to pay for laborers to plow her fields and start raising piglets and chickens.
Veun's Group's story
In order to help support the family, Veun works hard on their rice farm while her husband is a paid laborer. She has farmed for twelve years now and earns approximately 35,000 KHR a day, but it is a problem for the family when the yearly harvest is meager.
Veun took out and successfully repaid a previous loan through Kiva's field partner VisionFund Cambodia, a loan that helped improve the family’s life. Now she is applying for a 3,400,000 KHR loan to be apportioned among her group members. She will use her share of the loan to pay for laborers to plow her fields and use the rest of the money to start raising piglets and chickens and buy their feed. She feels that this loan will help her to increase her income and her family’s standard of living.
