A loan helped to buy rice seeds and fertilizers to increase the productivity of her rice crop.
Seak's Group's story
A resident living in Prey Chhor district of Kampong Cham province, Seak is 52 years old and a married mother of two children, one of whom is dependent on her. Rice farming business is the main business of her and she has been in it for 34 years already. Seak sometimes harvests rice for others for a fee to supplement income. This year, drought has made her business grew slowly and produced lower-than-expected products. Now, she leads a group of three members to apply for a loan, which will be her fourth time with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). With the previous loan, it enabled her to improve her living condition better. For this new loan, she, the group leader, will use it to buy rice seeds and fertilizers to increase the productivity of crop. She hopes to earn more income to buy a pumping machine to supply water to her rice field, so that the crop will produce more outputs.
