Mariam's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped pay for three oxen, two piglets, and barley and grass as forage for the livestock.

Mariam's story

Mariam lives with her mother in the village of Akunq in the Ararat region. A cook by profession, Mariam helps her mother with farming work. They keep livestock (cows, pigs, calves and hens) and also cultivate wheat in the family's own yard. Mariam works in a small catering business as a cook, and her time after work is totally devoted to the development of the farm. She has requested this loan to purchase three oxen, two piglets, and barley and grass as forage for the livestock. This is Mariam's second loan. Unfortunately, the first loan, which she got from local financial institutions previously, was very difficult to pay back, and Mariam faced some difficulties. However, thanks to her hard work during recent times, she and her mother were able to run their agribusiness in a sustainable way, ensuring that they will be able to cover the monthly payments. So, Mariam has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a joint initiative between Kiva and SEF international. The second-chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history and have no access to credit products. Please support Mariam with her loan and help her to sustain her farm.
