A loan helped to buy soybean seeds, organic fertilizers and organic pesticide, used to enrich the nutrients and prevent plants from being destroyed by pests.
A resident living in Prey Prorsorb district of Kratie province, Seng is a 55-year-old father of five children, one of whom is dependent on him. As the breadwinner, he struggles for a living via growing soybean on two hectare-area of farmland as the main source of income. He also grows cashews and work for others for a fee in order to earn supplemental income. He has been in these businesses for 37 years already. The challenges he faces these days are to harvest low quality of crop products from his endangered soybean farming and to sell it in low price in market. Now, he is applying for a loan, which is the first cycle of him, with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) to buy soybean seeds, organic fertilizers and organic pesticide, which will be used to enrich the nutrients and to prevent the from being destroyed by pests. He hopes that he can get good output from his healthy crop so that he can earn good income to update his living standard.
