Mercedes Johana's story
The 9 de Abril Credit Group meets every 15 days in the community of Leonidas Proaño in the city of Manta, a city known for its beautiful beaches, which are heavily visited during every season of the year, as well as for being a city of incomparable beauty with many tourist attractions. This is where Mercedes lives. She is 32 years old and is in a common-law relationship that has produced four children, who are 16, 14, 12, and 5 years old, all of whom are in high school and elementary school. Her partner is a businessman. Mercedes is a woman who likes to work; she has a grocery store in her home where she sells all kinds of products, such as grains, detergents, meats, fish, shrimp, and beans, among other necessity items, as well as convenience store items. She works every day and her children and her partner help her run the store, but only for brief moments, as she is the one who is always there for her customers' needs. She has had this business for over two years and it provides her with what she needs to get ahead. She will use this loan to buy groceries to stock her store and seafood to sell. She has been with her credit group for four cycles and she likes it because the loans have made her business grow. Her dreams are to give her children the best.
