12 De Junio Group's story

At the age of 50 Lidia is a very hard-working woman. From a very young age her source of income has been raising and selling small animals, livestock farming, doing domestic work and various other jobs which she does in order to bring up her daughters. Lidia has daughters aged 16, 20, 23, 27, 30 and 32 years. She is a single mother but says that, knowing how to work in a very responsible way, she has been able to give her daughters the things they need most. Currently Lidia makes a living raising and selling animals and is a domestic help in a house, as well as working early in the mornings milking cows. Lidia is asking for 1200 dollars from the loan, to use for buying pigs and calves to sell at the markets in the nearest cities. Lidia knows her companions in the group and says they have shown themselves to be responsible as well as having established businesses since they live in the countryside and raise animals. Lidia has previously had a loan with Kiva and this institution and has demonstrated determination to make a good impression in paying her instalments. Lidia says that her income was sufficient to give her daughters their primary education. Currently her daughters are studying by distance learning-in other words, at the weekends. Lidia supports her daughters and her aspiration is for them and the grandchildren who live with her to continue their education and, by doing this, manage to get a good job in the future, since at the moment they work as agricultural day labourers.
