Juan Alberto's story
Juan Alberto C. C. lives in the small town of Chotacaj, in the state of Totonicapan. His primary profession is carpentry, which he has practiced for more than 30 years. He learned the trade from his beloved father. His two sons have learned to be carpenters, working with him on dressers, beds, china closets, etc. Juan heard an advertisement telling that [kiva.org partner] Asociación ASDIR gives loans for business activities like his. He visited their offices to discuss needing a loan for the purchase of wood for the winter season. During winter there is very little wood available, or the wood that is available is wet and can't be used for making furniture. Juan takes advantage of summer months to purchase the materials he needs to meet his clients' needs.
