Susan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped To receive and sell 140 units of BrightBox to both rural and urban end-users in Kenya.

Susan's story

Susan, pictured above, is a hardworking entrepreneur who sells solar products to rural communities in Kenya. She is 38 years old and has two children in secondary school. Since selling BrightBox, One Degree Solar’s solar energy kit that powers lights, phones, and radios, Susan has been able to uplift her family as well as the livelihoods of her customers. Susan educates local communities, primary schools, and women’s groups on the benefits of solar and through her product demonstrations and trainings, she is improving the lives of thousands by providing access to sustainable energy products.

Through a Kiva loan, Susan will be able to purchase 140 solar kits, which will allow her to increase her inventory to serve more customers, scale her business, and earn more money for her family. Her long-term goal is to conduct trainings and live demonstrations across the entire Eastern Kenya region on the benefits of solar energy when compared to traditional energy sources, such as candles, kerosene, and disposable batteries.
