Gladys's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped To receive and sell 140 units of BrightBox to both rural and urban end-users in Kenya.

Gladys's story

Gladys, pictured above, has strong experience in selling One Degree Solar products as well as providing after-sales support and customer service to her customers. Gladys is 27 years old and lives with her family, who she is very close with. Renewable energy runs deep in her family as her grandparents and parents are avid users of solar products.

Gladys grew a passion for the renewable energy sector and has worked closely on leading marketing campaigns, including demonstrations to women’s groups, schools, and households in her town. Through her strong connections with end-users, Gladys has had immense success selling BrightBox, One Degree Solar’s solar energy kit that powers lights, phones, and radios. She sees BrightBox as a way to energize and empower households, businesses, and individuals across her region.

Through a Kiva loan, Gladys will be able to purchase 130 solar kits, which will allow her to increase her inventory to serve more customers, scale her business, and provide solar energy solutions to local communities without access to reliable, affordable energy. Her long-term goal is to conduct trainings and live demonstrations across the entire Western Kenya region on the benefits of solar energy when compared to traditional energy sources, such as candles, kerosene, and disposable batteries.
