Alicia Alexandra's story

Alicia is a client of Fundación Alternativa. She is a single mother who lives with her young son in the city of Santo Domingo. She is s hard-working woman who has a business selling salchipapas (a local street food). With her first loan she was able to improve the appearance of her business buying more chairs and canopies for her clients. Her business is in the street and now she sees the need to have a cafe to sell food.

She has decided to open a new business so she has come to Fundación Alternativa, the institution that supported her. Thanks to this loan she will be able to acquire needed equipment like display cases, a freezer, tables, chairs and stove to open her business selling breakfast, lunch and dinner while continuing with her salchipapa business. She has the shop and various equipment but she needs a loan to open the cafe.

Alicia planned this months in advance, including talking to employees of companies in the area about opening a cafe and if they would be potential clients. Her findings came out positive and she has not given it another thought and now happily she can open her business.

Alicia is a very happy micro-entrepreneur with the support and confidence shown in her. She is a faithful client of the institution and she wishes to continue to grow with us and be able to provide work to mothers who need to take an income home to their family.
