Albaro's story

Albaro is 36 years old. He lives with his wife and 3 young children in a house made of rustic material in the Loma Chuncha sector of the small village El Arenal. It is in the Santo Tomas district, and it is a community basically dedicated to agriculture and livestock. They make their living by growing coffee, sugarcane, legumes, and other basic crops, and raising small animals etc. His community is located in the Cutervo province, which belongs to the Cajamarca region in the northern mountains of Peru. He works in farming, especially catimor coffee production. For the past five years he has also grown sugarcane to be artisanally distilled to aguardiente, which is a traditional drink in the Peruvian mountains. It is used at festivals, as an antiseptic, and medicinally. He also raises small animals to sell and eat. Albaro has requested a loan from Edpyme Alternative to maintain his 2-hectare coffee plantation. In this way, he will have better production and a better harvest, generating a higher income and improving his and his family's quality of life.
