Porfirio's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy coffee plants, organic fertilizer, other organic inputs, and pay for manual labor necessary to replant and certify organic 1.5 hectares of coffee plantation.

Porfirio's story

Porfirio is married to Irma and they have seven children. At 65 years old, Porfirio continues to be the leader of the family and the economy of his family depends on his coffee plantation that has now been seriously affected by pests and age. Porfirio sees this as a good opportunity to replant the plantation and convert it to an organic production. Porfirio dreams of leaving his children a small estate so they don't have to go through the tough situations he has been through. The production of organic coffee is something new in the region, it helps protect the biodiversity and qualify for better markets for coffee. With the production gains, Porfirio hopes to have a better quality of life with his family. Porfirio is cheerful and sees an opportunity in the deterioration of his plantation to do something good for everybody. This is why he is requesting a loan to replant and certify 1.5 hectares. With the loan he will pay for all materials necessary for replantation. The loan will help Porfirio to have better market opportunities for his coffee while improving the quality of life with the earnings from the organic products sold.
