Mary Boyani's story

My name is Mary. I am from Nyamira County. I come from a family of six members: one boy and five girls. I studied in Nyabururu girls secondary, a local school. My parents are small-scale farmers, hence our family income is very limited. At Nyabururu I attained a B+ grade even after going through many financial challenges. I am keen to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree, but cannot afford it. My passion of becoming an accountant since childhood has led to Strathmore University where I found out about the Kiva loan opportunity. I have no other financial option to meet my university education; Kiva is my only way out of poverty. Strathmore will give me the opportunity to make my dream a reality by offering me a chance to study in the institution through the partnership with Kiva. I will make the best out of this opportunity that promises a bright future not just for myself but for my family, the people of Nyamira and the world.
