A loan helped to expand her fruit selling business.
Fejal Mahila Mandal Group's story
This group of five enterprising, dedicated women hails from Dahod, India. They are led by Rukhsanabibi who is standing in the center. She is a 38-year-old mother of one child. She manages the household expenses and medical expenses single handedly. The household income is INR 12,500, which is insufficient to meet household expenses and pay for her child's education. The monthly savings are just INR 3,000. Hence, Rukhsanabibi thought of starting her business to supplement the family income. She started selling fruits, which include apples, mangos, bananas, pears, oranges, etc. With this business, she is currently earning INR 3,000, but she wants to earn more to support her child's education. Hence, she came up with the idea to avail a loan to expand her business. She got together with four other women who share similar interests. The other women are determined to help their families and want to expand their existing businesses. These families, on an average, earn INR 10,000 a month, out of which they are able to save only INR 2,000. Similar to Rukhsanabibi, Sajeda and Anjuben are also into selling fruits, which include apples, mangos, bananas, pears, oranges, etc. They will use the loan to expand their fruit selling businesses and earn more income. Yasamin has her own variety store where she sells bangles, earrings, ornaments etc. She will use the loan to expand her variety store. Apsanabibi is into tailoring and she stitches blouses, dresses and petticoats for women. She will use the loan to expand her tailoring business. Together the group seeks a loan of INR 72,000. Your loan will help these women earn better and give good education to their children. It will also pave a way for a good standard of living and happiness among these families.
