Hajrie's story

Hajrije is a villager and a mother of three. She is 51 years old and her children are 26, 24 and 20, and they all live in rural southeastern Albania. She is seeking your financial help to pay for two of her daughters’ university fees. One of them is studying law and the other one foreign language. She could not be pictured with the daughters because they were in school and far from her since they study in Tirana, the capital city of Albania. So, she chose to be photographed with her cow and the calf in their stable. The activity that Hajrije has been pursuing these past twenty years is agriculture, planting and selling mostly potatoes, beans and also producing Lucerne (alfalfa) and fodder for her animals. From the cow she has, she sells some raw milk to other villagers. The income of the family of five includes some monthly income of her husband, $195/month, and her oldest daughter of $250/month.
