Antonia's story

Antonia is 32 years old and single. She has an 8 year old son and a 15 year old daughter. Her business is selling jeans. She is an enterprising, independent, tenacious, friendly, responsible, and very hard-working, good mother. She conducts her business at a market in the central zone. It is located in a valley with fertile and productive soil. It is surrounded by fields of crops and valuable Incan and Pre-Incan ruins. The climate is mild all year, and it is 1,571 meters above sea level. Antonia has a dark complexion, brown eyes, and long black hair that she pulls back into a pony tail. She is short and robust. Her mother tongue is Quechu, which she speaks with her family. She speaks Spanish with the general public and in the business she conducts. She shares her life with her children, who go to school. They live in the family house, which is built from bricks and cement. The roof is corrugated metal, and the floor is cement. They have electricity, and water is pumped from a well. Her business is selling women’s jeans. These pants are very popular and versatile for most daily activities like going to school or work, for going on vacation, or for simply being at home. Her daily routine starts early in the morning when she takes her merchandise to her open air stall. Upon arriving she unpacks the pants and adjusts the mannequins so that everything is displayed correctly. Upon finishing her work day she packs all of the clothes and takes them back in her two-wheeled cart. She conducts her business during the day from Tuesday through Sunday. “I started my business with the help of my sister. Sometimes my daughter helps me, and it is the family business,” she says. The advantage of her business is that she has regular customers. The disadvantage is the lack of money to improve her offerings. Her dream is to open a clothing store. She wishes to buy women’s jeans wholesale. This is her first loan cycle with the institution in the year that she has been engaged in this business activity. It is for these reasons that Antonia is requesting a loan to buy women’s jeans wholesale in order to open a clothing store and improve her offerings.
