Adolfo's story

Adolfo is a weaver from Peru who specializes in tapestries and handbags. He would like to invest in a bulk purchase of wool Adolfo has been selling through NOVICA since 2007. This is his story: "From the time I was a little boy, I'd watch my family create marvelous textiles of Ayacucho, where I was born, and I dreamed of one day being able to create works of color and imagination with my own hands. My artistic formation comes from my ancestors. We all carry this art in our blood. For me, this work is more than just a job – it's the excitement and passion of my life. From the age of 14, I've designed and woven my own pieces. My motivation comes from the tradition and culture in every skein of yarn. I enjoy transmitting the things that I like. I bring my life, my examples, my people, my ancestors, all my beliefs and experiences to my work. I share messages through my work, such as our history and culture of our artistic world so that people can know them. My greatest challenge is that people admire this art that for some remain unknown. I feel proud to have learned this art form, and even more when I teach someone else to weave and design the things I know."

"I'd like to thank each of you for your support, as this micro-credit is going to help me refresh and expand my product line." Use the link below to view Adolfo's tapestries and handbags on the NOVICA site: http://www.novica.com/kiva/6133
