Banco Comunal Las Mariposas Group's story

The loan group Las Mariposas (The Butterflies) is comprised of 11 members, 10 women and 1 man. They are mothers and a father and are responsible for 20 children. They are from Sauce, a place in the north of the region that is know for its responsible, hardworking people who want to improve themselves. Unfortunately, due to a lack of economic resources, the group members weren't able to go to school and had to work from a very young age to help with the household expenses. Thanks to her desire to get ahead, the coordinator is Marina and her source of income is a grocery store, a small store where she sells items of food in small quantities such as: rice, beans, sugar, milk, bread, eggs, detergents, soap, sugar, cheese, ice, matches, juices, etc. She works at her business some 12 hours a day so that she can give her customers good service and so that, in the not too distant future, she can make greater income. Her goal is to use the loan has business capital. The members of Las Mariposas are grateful for the help that the Kiva lenders offer to people who have scarce resources and to poor countries like Nicaragua so that they can have dignified work.
