Buen Porvenir Group's story
Antonio is 32 years old, and lives with his partner, with whom he has a child. He lives in a village in the municipality of Intibucá. He has always made a living in agriculture, from which he earns an income for his family. He has grown corn, beans and coffee for the past 15 years. Coffee is the most profitable of his crops and sells at the highest price. Antonio has decided to form a group and request a loan of 16,000 lempiras to buy compost and inputs, clean his coffee farm and grow more plants, in order to keep his farm in good condition and get a better harvest this year. With his earnings, he plans to expand his crop and educate his child. The group is called Buen Pastor, and is made up of Gregorio, Antonio, Jerónimo and Alberto, from left to right in the photograph. They work in agriculture and are known in the community. Each member of the group is requesting a loan, adding up to a total of 56,000 lempiras to assist their coffee farms.
