Monica's story

Mónica has 20 years' experience as a trader. She began working as life circumstances meant that she needed to generate an income to meet her family's needs. She has a 22-year-old daughter, and she contributes to the household through the profits made by her business, in which she sells clothing, women's accessories, and other items. She sells directly and on credit. Mónica works from Mondays to Sundays for her main customers, who are neighbours and friends from the area where she lives and has her business. She is currently applying for a loan from Kiva, which is her first funding from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use it to buy a variety of merchandise, including women's accessories, clothing and footwear, in order to improve her inventory and encourage her customers to make purchases. She needs to boost her profits to improve her and her family's quality of life, although her main challenge is to obtain enough financing to achieve her goals.
