Amanecer Chuacruz Group's story

Ismelda lives in a rural area above beautiful Lake Atitlan in Sololá, Guatemala. She is a 21-year-old woman, who is thrilled to be participating for the very first time in the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Amanecer Chuacruz”. Ismelda has an animal husbandry business and with her anticipated loan, she plans to purchase two pigs, as well as their feed. In addition, she would like to buy beads and supplies for her jewelry business. She makes colorful beaded pins, earrings, rings, bracelets and coin purses that she delivers to her clients, so that they can sell them to tourists who visit the nearby areas. Ismelda is motivated to raise her standard of living and in the future plans to buy more pigs and increase her jewelry business. The ladies of “Amanecer Chuacruz” benefit from their monthly educational training with a Friendship Bridge Facilitator, who shares timely information with the women about a variety of relevant subjects. They gain valuable business tools, learn about health, hygiene and how to get their children ready for school. They learn how to dream and set goals for themselves. Friendship Bridge calls the combination of small loans and education “Microcredit Plus”. It is very successful! The Trust Bank greatly appreciates the kindness and generosity of Kiva lenders from around the world. Armed with their new tools, Ismelda and her friends in the Trust Bank are poised to step into a brighter tomorrow, not only improving their own lives but those of their families and community. Thank you, Kiva !
