José Francisco's story
José Francisco is a small coffee producer in a community of Jinotega. He lives with his wife and 11-year-old son in his small farm of 3.5 hectares, 2.1 of which are coffee. In the last years, this producer has been improving his farm with the implementation of good agricultural practices. His average coffee crop has been of 70 parchment quintals, which he produces under Fair Trade certification criteria. For this cycle, he is requesting a loan for the purchase of inputs and fertilizers that enable him to guarantee an integrated pest and diseases management plan in his plantations. This investment will contribute to increase his coffee production in this cycle, with which he will improve the income for his family. This small producer's dream is to expand his farm area so as to leave his son a bigger and more productive farm. He is sure that by investing, he will achieve a greater productivity and with it, greater resources to achieve his goal.
