Tike Chaung Village - Group 2's story
Pictured above are the CBO members from Tike Chaung group-2, named (from left to right) Kyaing, Than, Maung, Win and Kyi. The Featured Borrower, Kyi, has a 3 acre farm in the Delta region of Myanmar, and like many farmers in this area, income is very low before harvest season. The loan will help her purchase the necessary farming resources she needs to harvest her crops. Kyi is 42 years old, married, and supports a family of seven (five children), the youngest of whom is in 3th grade. Part of the family’s income goes towards funding the children's education. Kyi and her family hope to expand her business as buying more paddy fields and plantation fields. The fund will help a total of 22 borrowers in the village. The CBO leaders oversee this group, and they will purchase farming essentials and labor needed for harvest time with this loan. Tike Chaung group-2 Village mainly focus on crop farming and as well as seasonal foods.They also do plantation such as flowers and banana trees, for additional income.
