Nino's story

From the village of Makvaneti, Nino is 53 years old and married. She lives with her husband, who works as a sales person and earns a fixed salary. Nino seasonally harvests nuts and earns a small income. Her salary is not enough to meet the basic needs of her family. As it becomes harder to earn a living, she wants to expand her business to include clothing in order to more effectively cover the daily costs of her family. A loan of 2,500 GEL will be a great support to this hardworking woman, enabling Nino to purchase clothing inventory and start selling in her community. The startup loan program, created together by Kiva and Credo, provides credit with soft conditions to business startups and re-startups. The program targets the country's rural poor who are regarded as "high risk borrowers" because of their low income and otherwise do not have access to credit products. After starting her clothing business, Nino will increase her role in her family's well-being. She will be very thankful to all Kiva lenders for the chance to make a better standard of living for herself.
