but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a stock of clothing and to start trading.

Nana's story

Nana is a 45-year-old, hard-working woman from Tskhaltubo district. She has a pensioner mother-in-law and three children. Her children get financial assistance from the local government, since Nana became a widow. The family has very poor living conditions, and has no source of significant income. Somehow to improve the situation, Nana started working as a hired person who harvests agricultural products seasonally. She gets a small income and finds it hard to meet the financial difficulties. Nana couldn’t receive a loan from the local financial institutions for starting her own activity, because of their requirements to have business experience or stable revenue, until the startup program began, which is a joint product of Kiva and Credo. The program allows the rural poor like Nana, to get a chance for starting or re-starting a business. She will purchase a stock of clothing at wholesale prices and will sell door-to-door at increased prices. She is a very enthusiastic and hardworking person, with a great desire to ensure her children with good education for progressing in life. This credit will be a great support for the family. Nana is thankful to Kiva lenders for giving her a chance to increase her income.
