Fatoumata's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy four containers of refined oil, and condiments and vegetables.

Fatoumata's Group's story

This group was created in the second half of 2013. It is made up of women who aspire to work together. They share common values of solidarity and mutual support, based on a long history of living in the same village. In every case, their main activity is trading on a small scale. Fatoumata (standing on the far right with her hand raised) is the featured borrower of the group. She is 35 years old, married and the mother of eight children (four boys and four girls). Her business is trading vegetables and condiments. She buys her merchandise in the weekly local market, and also occasionally at the weekly markets in villages on the border of a neighbouring country - to resell in small quantities from her home. She has a lot of experience in this business, having been involved for several years. With this loan, she plans to buy four 20 litre containers of refined oil for 15,000f each, as well as condiments and vegetables worth 40,000f. The resulting profit will enable her to help her husband with the childrens' schooling costs, and to improve their living conditions.
