A loan helped to buy fertilizer.

Campesinos De Tzununá Group's story

Jose is a 51 year old married man with a lovely family of five children between the ages of 6 and 16. This lovely family lives in Solola. Jose (second from the left, in a white shirt) with the desire to obtain an income and support his family works as a farmer and has been doing so for 25 years. He chose this field because it’s profitable but he also works as a laborer within his community in order to obtain additional income. Based on his experience, Jose is worried because the rainy season has arrived and his crops need maintenance to protect them from the rain. He doesn’t have enough money to buy fertilizers, so he got together with a group of people with the same need to ask for a loan so he can care for his crops. Jose is hopeful for getting the loan so he can protect his coffee plants from the rain so he can increase his earnings at harvest time and buy more land as well as remodel his home.
