Maliti Ti-Pusuga Group's story

Samata is a 47-year-old woman from Pusuga in the northern region of Ghana. She is married and has five children. Samata is the individual pictured with the hand raised among members sitting. Samata is a member of a shea nuts processing group that has been in business for the last seven years. The name of the group is ‘Maliti ti-pusuga’. Samata earns a good profit from the business as the group has been trained by Grameen Ghana on how to improve their shea nuts processing business such that they can always produce premium quality shea crude butter for the local markets and for the export markets. Samata and ‘Maliti ti-pusuga’ have asked for a loan of GHS 6,900. Samata’s share of the loan is GHS 600 which she would use to buy shea nuts and process shea crude butter. She has planned to earn more income as well as to repay this loan and support her family's health and children's educational needs. Samata thanks Kiva lenders for their support.
