Fortalezas De La Cascada Group's story
The “Fortalezas de la Cascada” Communal Bank will begin the eleventh cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Cascada Regional Office. It is composed of eight members, and it is directed by a board of directors, of which Señora Jhoselyn is president. The members of the communal bank conduct various businesses, among which are: clothing sales, sales of products by catalog, a neighborhood store, sales of telephone products, and sales of quilts and blankets. The loan that they will take will benefit the women micro-entrepreneurs of whom Señora Jhoselyn is a member. She indicates that she joined Pro Mujer a year ago by invitation, through a massive promotion carried out in her area by the institution. Currently, she has a business selling pasankalla, (sweet popcorn). She says that she learned this business from her mother, who had the same business, and that over time she decided to invest her savings in a similar business. The loan that she is taking now is for increasing capital (the purchase of pasankalla at wholesale). She will get it from the wholesale vendors in the city of La Paz, and sell it later in her sales space. This form of work allows her to generate resources to support her family financially, as she is married and has three children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the training and the health care that the institution offers.
