Gladys Lorena's story

The "Urb. Las Viviendas" communal bank meets every fortnight in the canton of Jaramijo. It is known for it's beautiful beaches and the majority of it's inhabitants work in activities related to the sea.

Gladys lives here. She is 36 years old, married and has 6 children aged 17, 14, 13, 10, 9 and 8 years old. They all study in Secondary and Primary school. Her husband is a fisherman.

Gladys is a woman who likes to earn her own way and make her own income for the good of her family. She has a business selling fishing supplies such as nets, hooks, rope, lead, harpoons, amongst many other things that are required to fish in the high seas. She has a store at her house where her clients can find all these products. She works every day and travels t the center of Manta to buy what is needed so her customers have everything they need. She has been in the business for 3 years and things are going well for her and she has many clients.

This loan will be used to buy nets, rope, lures, hooks amongst other products. She has been in this communal bank for 3 years and she likes it as she started the business with her first loan. Her dream is to buy a fishing boat.
