Umugisha Group's story
Pelagie is a group leader, aged 35. She is married and has three children between the ages of 2 and 8. Two of them go to school. This group is called Umugisha, which means “Blessing” in English. The group members sell different products and they wish to expand their businesses to make their futures better. Pelagie owns a shop and has been doing business for the past five years, while her husband is a businessman also. With this loan, she would like to buy more salt, sugar, and rice to sell. The profits from the business will be used to pay school fees for her children and to save for a better future.
