Grupo Agrícola Pajoca Sur 1 Group's story

Isabela (the first on the right in this photograph in the fuchsia pink blouse) is a 27 year old woman. She has a husband and has two children with him who are five and seven years old. This modest family live in the community of Sololá. With the desire to earn an income and support her husband with the household expenses, Isabela grows coffee and bananas a few metres from her house. She has been doing this for five years, however, in order to improve her income she also sells traditional outfits in the square in her community. Some time ago, Isabela planted some lines of coffee plant and this now needs to be maintained. However one of the difficulties that she has is that she does not have enough money. For this reason she has organised a group of woman with the same needs so as to ask for a loan together which she will invest in fertilisers and paying for labour costs. Her biggest dream is to be able to have premises for her business of buying and selling traditional clothes, furthermore she wants to extend her home.
