Karine's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for fertilizer and cultivation work and hire workers for cultivation work.

Karine's story

Karine is farmer from Vanashen village, Ararat region. She lives there with her two sons, daughter-in-law, grandson and sister-in-law. Karine runs a farm. She cultivates tomatoes and garlic and keeps hens. She also keeps an orchard where she grows fruit trees (apricot, apple and grape). All the available resources are used for survival and nothing remains to invest in a farming business. As the children grow up, the family need more and more resources to have the ends meet. Karine has applied for this loan to purchase fertilizer and cultivation work and hire workers for cultivation work. Karine has already taken a loan from a local financial institution before, but unfortunately wasn't able to pay it back. However, thanks to her hard work during recent times, Karine was able to run her agribusiness in a sustainable way, ensuring that she will be able to cover the monthly payments. So, she has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF International. The second-chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history and have no access to credit products. Karine will wait for lenders' support and hopes that this loan will help her in developing her farm.
