Benkakan Group's story
Kotenté is on the far right in the photo, with a goat. She lives in a rural community in Mali and is 35 years old. Kotenté is married and has eight children, two of whom attend school. Her children are aged between one and fifteen years old. She is unable to read or write and is married to a farmer. Kotenté raises goats for a living and is an ambitious woman who wants to provide for the well-being of her children, their healthcare, good food and a secure future. In order to improve conditions for her family, she works with the field partner RMCR. Her 100,000 franc CFA loan will buy goats from the local market which Kotenté will fatten up before selling again, for cash, at the local market. Kotenté has four years' experience in her profitable business and has never had any major problems with it. Her profits will be used to provide for the needs of her family.
