Costureras Clarenas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase an industrial sewing machine to increase production to meet additional demand.

Costureras Clarenas Group's story

The ladies of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Costureras Clareñas” are requesting their second loan from KIVA to strengthen and expand their small businesses.

Marta is a 26-year-old member of the group who has a primary school education. She has two children who have already begun school. Along with her family, Marta has a small workshop where various sizes of pants for children are sewn. Each week, the family delivers many dozen pants to the bustling market. Marta is requesting a new loan that she will use to purchase an industrial sewing machine to increase production to meet additional demand.

Each month, a Friendship Bridge Loan Officer meets with the women and shares information about the world around them and within them. Using stories, role-playing, pictures and drawings, the ladies learn about self-esteem, empowerment and women’s rights. They learn to care for their families with information about hygiene, health, and the use of medicinal plants. They also acquire new business tools including budgeting, accounting and marketing.

Thank you, KIVA investors, for your generosity in funding these loans. It is truly appreciated. We look forward to providing a follow-up report in the near future on Marta and her friends in the Trust Bank.
