Kadia's Group's story
Farima, the woman wearing a tunic in the centre of the back row of the photo, with her hands on the heads of the women in front, belongs to an 11-member group of farmers who work and live in Teneya, a village to the south-west of Bamako in Mali. 58-year-old Farima lives within a family made up of 13 individuals, eight of which are children. Farming allows her to ensure her family's food sufficiency and to manage their daily expenses. She decided to collaborate with myAgro in order to learn about new farming methods. For her first year with myAgro, Farima purchased a pack of OPV seeds and fertilizer in order to grow peanut plants on her 0.0625 hectare plot of land. With this purchase, Farima hopes to be able to go beyond subsistence farming and become a large-scale producer so she can sell her produce and resolve the difficulties she experiences.
