Patrick's Group's story
Pictured above is Patrick, often described as an extremely hardworking individual. He is 41 years old and, as a group leader, he is representing his group of nine farmers in Kakamega North District, Kenya. He is married and has two children. Patrick is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again as this means that he is able to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods, which is why he decided to join in the first place. Patrick says that he is happy to have made that decision because, since he first joined in 2013, he has been able to consistently feed his family, which has improved his day-to-day life significantly. He is purchasing a solar light this year which he is so excited about as it will allow him to reduce the consumption of paraffin fuel therefore allowing him to save more money. Patrick will use the profits from this season to buy a cow. The group will use this loan to purchase two solar lights, seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 5.5 acres.
