Varantsov's story

Varantsov is 40 years old and he lives with his big and lovely family in the village Ddmashen in the Gegharkunik region. Varantsov has three children: two boys and a pretty girl. Varantsov’s wife is unemployed and she takes care of their children and equally with her husband works on their farm. Since 1994 until today Varantsov has been the shepherd of their village. He likes his work despite of its great risk and responsibility, since for any peasant family farm cattle are the greatest treasure and they trust all of it to him. Varantsov is responsible of the security and return for the animals from the pastures to their barns at the end of each day. On his farm, Varantsov has horses, cows, calves, bulls, sheep and chickens. His wife makes perfect cheese and macun (national dairy-product) and she sells it with milk and eggs, mainly to her neighbors and regular customers. For this man, farming is the only source of income and he dreams of providing his family with better living thanks to its development. With this loan of 400,000 Armenian drams Varantsov plans to buy 2 more calves and also animal fodder for his farm cattle.
