Edgar Benjamin's story
Edgar is a 41-year-old man. He is married and has a beautiful family of two children who are 12 years and 6 months old. This humble family lives in the community of Sololá. To make money and support his family, Edgar has grown corn and beans for a living for the past 10 years. But to improve his income, Edgar also works in construction. He says that the income from this second job has been extremely helpful to him. Edgar has thought about farming during this new season, but to be able to do it, he needs to pay the rent on the land where he grows and buy his chemical fertilizer. But one of the difficulties he has is that he doesn't have enough capital to pay the land rent and buy his chemical fertilizer. Edgar's greatest dream is to be able to farm this year to increase his income and be able to buy a piece of land where he can grow crops, so he can continue helping his children in school.
