but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizer to improve on yield.

Furaha Self Help Group's story

The person raising her hand in the photo is Mary, a member of Furaha self help group. She is 34 years old and a mother of four. She joined Hand in Hand Eastern Africa (HiH EA) in May 2014.

Mary does maize and bean farming. Mary is grateful to Hand in Hand Eastern Africa HiH EA for enterprise training. She is borrowing from Kiva to start to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers and seeds. This will increase her yields and therefore meet the demand of maize and beans in the area. She hopes to earn more income to enable her to educate her children and meet other family needs.

Mary is appreciative to Kiva and their lenders for their support. She promises to repay promptly.
