Nueva Estrella Group's story

The “NUEVA ESTRELLA” communal bank will begin its second cycle in Pro Mujer as a part of the Centro Focal Panamericana. It is made up of nine members and led by a board of directors of which Roberta is the president. The businesses that the members of the communal bank have are varied, Among them are selling clothes, selling vests, selling beverages and gelatin, selling clothing, selling food, and selling skirts. The loan they will take out will benefit the micro-businesswomen, including Roberta. She says that she joined Pro Mujer two years ago, joining at the invitation of her daughter in law, who is a client of the institution. Right now, she has a business selling food. She reports that she started this business several years ago, starting with basic capital and as a street vendor. Later, she was able to acquire a permanent spot and increase her capital. The loan she will take out now is to increase capital by buying groceries wholesale. She will acquire them from the sellers in the city of El Alto, and later, after preparation, she will sell them in her sales space. This type of work allows her to generate resources to support the family financially, since she is married and has six children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the trainings and the area of health that the institution offers.
