Jonie Roy's story
His name is Jonie Roy, 31, resident of Silang, Cavite, Philippines. He is single and a hardworking young man that works on his own farm to support himself and his aging parents. Jonie Roy has a cassava farm. Cassava grows best in a warm humid climate like the Philippines. It is one source of food and starch among Filipinos and it is not far from what rice and corn can offer. It is also deliciously made into cassava cake which is a favorite delicacy among the Filipinos. He sells his harvest to market and fruit stores that he regularly supplies and to the local community. He earns a minimum of PHP 2,000 in sales every week. To help him continue operations of his business, he is requesting a PHP 30,000 loan which he will use to buy fertilizer and farm inputs for his farm. Part of the loan will go to the maintenance of his farm. He expects a boost in his business income as he expands his business. Jonie Roy hopes for his farm to flourish and to be able to buy a bigger farming land in the future. He prays for good health of his family. He faithfully meets up with his co-fellowship members to share stories of his work every week and where he can also draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God he studies. * All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital and pay Micro Finance loans.
