Nhóm 5- An Thanhv2 Group's story
Phai, pictured first from the right, makes about $34 (700,000 VND) every month working in the rice paddies. She is 64 years old and has two grown children who live separately from her. She has been a member of the Women's Union since 1972. Due to economic hardship, her family has not yet been able to build a septic tank latrine and is currently using a double-pit latrine, which is now degraded. With a portion of this loan to the Nhóm 5- An Thanhv2 Group, Phai will be able to gain access to latrine hardware that include a hygienic septic tank latrine and a hand-washing device with soap. Those facilities would also help her family improve their health, living conditions, and personal safety while contributing to the environmental health of the community.
