The borrower, Gifty, has been working in retail for the past 10 years. She has been a member of this group for five years. She is 46 years old, and an experienced entrepreneur. She is also married with three grown up children, all of whom are on their own. Gifty sells used plastic chairs, tables, bowls, and blenders and she displays her merchandise at her markets. She is requesting a loan from ID Ghana in order to expand her business. She is going to buy plastic chairs, tables, bowls, and blenders which she will sell to customers at the market. She started her business with some money received from her husband. In the future, she would like to buy a plot of land and build on it. She thanks ID Ghana for its support of women entrepreneurs excluded from the traditional banking system, and for granting them loans without any collateral guarantee. She, together with her colleagues, who are selling slippers, groceries, sauce pans, silver bowls, and gari (cassava flour), need a total amount of GHS 7,600 to expand their businesses.
