Cjfdt 27 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to buy cereals for stocking and reselling during the period when there are food shortages.
Cjfdt 27 Group's story
CFJDT 27 is a sub-group which is affiliated to the Convergence of Women and Youths for the Development of Tassette. It is made up of five people, four women and one man, who all live in the same village of Tassette, which is several kilometers from the town where the branch lies. They meet up at the end of every month to organise "tontines" (revolving finance systems where each member contributes periodically an agreed amount and this is passed on in rotation to different members). Their president is called Awa, and she is a married woman and a mother. She is developing a business selling cereals such as millet, corn, sorghum and beans, which are all grown locally. She is requesting this loan to buy cereals, stock them and wait for the period when there are food shortages (during the drought) to resell them at the market. She has more than 20 years experience in this business and begins her day at 7 o'clock in the morning, finishing at 7 o'clock in the evening. She helps out her husband with the daily outgoings and her children's school fees. She would like to open a large grocery store in order to diversify and increase her income. By doing this she will be able to save money.
