Nèkè Dena's story
Mr. Neke is 36 years old and married with two children. He lives with his wife in Ouayerma 1, one of the popular districts of Sikasso in the third administrative region of the Mali Republic. Mr. Neke was not able to go to school and after working in various activities with no success, he took up laundering seven years ago. He works in his neighbourhood where he has his laundry workshop. He is much sought after by his customers because of his good quality service and his punctuality. Hoping to better satisfy his growing clientele, five years ago he decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso micro-finance institution. This is his fourth individual loan. He requests this fourth loan to purchase three electric irons, three ironing boards, and a Jakarta motorbike to enable him to pick up his customers' clothing and return it to the customers who live far away from his workshop. With this loan he plans to make a monthly profit of 150 000 FCFA which he will use to repay the loan and the interests, he will reinvest the remainder in his business.
