Colinas Group's story
This group is composed of three cordial women of "Miskita" ethnicity. Lesvia, Jacinta, and Catrina live in Bilwi. They organized a year ago to work together and access group loans in Pana Pana. This has given them the opportunity to improve their small businesses of selling used clothing, selling supplies and groceries, and thus increasing their incomes and improve the quality of life for their families. They are requesting their second loan with Kiva. With the first loan, member Jacinta purchased more household products. Lesbia, coordinator of the group, purchased seafood and sold them at affordable prices to her customers in Bilwi and additionally, purchased beauty and cosmetic products and sold them to earn profits. Catrina is a member of the group. She is married with five children: four who study in primary and secondary school and also a young 9 month old. Her husband works informally as a bricklayer. For 8 years she has made a living selling supplies, vegetables, and fruits at bus stops in Bilwi from Monday to Saturday. In this way, she contributes to household expenses and her children's studies. She is asking for financing to stock up her business with supplies, vegetables, and fruits. Catrina and her husband dream of establishing a grocery store in their home.
